Grandparents Support Group

We offer an 8-session support program for grandparents caring for grandchildren under the age of six years. Activities include: group discussions, and learning though games and interactive fun. Healthy snacks, are provided to all participants. Client information and learning needs inform the choice of topics.

JumpStart Infant Group (Chinese)

A weekly, drop-in for Chinese-speaking parents or caregivers of children under one year of age, and also expectant parents. Sessions are planned and run by a inter-professional team made up of a Nurse Practitioner, Dietitian and Health Promoter. The sessions are interactive, educational, fun and provides opportunity for caregivers and their children to interact freely.

Diabetes Counseling, Education and Support

Dietitians and Nurse Educators

One-to-one counselling, education and support with a diabetes educator (RN or RD) about managing type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes. Self-management is encouraged where possible.

Social Worker

Seniors Wellness Group

Adults over 55 meet the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month to discuss current issues, take part in gentle exercise, listen to speakers - and have fun!

Topics may include:

  • safety
  • housing
  • health issues
  • skin care
  • depression
  • oral health

Prenatal Breastfeeding Group

Ask questions, share concerns and learn about breastfeeding in a 2-hour workshop for expectant mothers. The group is led by a certified lactation consultant / primary care nurse practitioner.

Healthy Lifestyles

An 8-week healthy eating and exercise program for adults. The right combination of exercise and good eating habits will help you reach and keep your healthy weight. Join us this spring or fall for an 8-week program to see what you can do to reach your goals. Each session includes exercise, a rest break and nutrition information.

Rooftop Gardening & Wellness Program

Since 2000, SRCHC has run a rooftop garden group in the spring-fall months. In 2011/12, with the help of a grant from the Government of Ontario Healthy Communities Fund, we were able to expand the program to provide more staff support, workshops and field trips at SRCHC, Central Toronto Community Health Centre and Flemingdon Health Centre.

Diabetes Support Group & Community Kitchen (Chinese)

Informal discussions and healthy meals prepared in our community kitchen with a Chinese-speaking dietitian, nurse, and other people living with type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes. Caregivers are welcome. Registration required.
