Mental Health and Diabetes Group

A hands-on, drop-in support group for anyone with Pre or Type 2 Diabetes and lived experience of the mental health system. Themes based on group interests, including content related to coping with mental health challenges and diabetes.

No registration necessary. Just show up – 4th floor SRCHC (955 Queen Street East).  


ATTENTION: At this time SRCHC does not accept outside, or self-referrals to our counselling program.

Confidential, one-to-one counseling with a social worker. Please note that due to high demand, there is usually a waiting period of 3 to 4 weeks.

Chinese Cancer Support Group

An educational program that offers guidance and mutual support to Chinese cancer patients and their families. The group is led by a Chinese-speaking outreach worker. Health professionals such as doctors, cancer nurses, pharmacists, radiation therapists, dietitians and social workers are invited to make presentations and answer questions.

Toronto Community Hepatitis C Program

The Toronto Community Hepatitis C Program (TCHCP) is a partnership between South Riverdale Community Health Centre, Regent Park Community Health Centre and Sherbourne Health Centre.

Diabetes Support Groups

Meet once a month with people who share your interest and concerns about diabetes. Share tips and information, learn about community services and how to live well with diabetes. All groups are led by a registered dietitian. The topics and activities are decided by each group. Families and caregivers are welcome.

Chinese Newcomer Women's Group

Chinese newcomer women meet with each other, listen to presentations and join in different activities. The group will focus on a range of mental health issues such as stress, anxiety, fear, anger, depression as well as domestic violence.

Chinese Peer Nutrition Program

The Chinese Peer Nutrition Program is  a joint project with Toronto Public Health to provide free nutrition education for Chinese speaking parents and caregivers of children 6 months to 6 years of age living in the South Riverdale area.

Counseling for Parents

One-to-one counseling for parents and families who would like to talk to a social worker. Short-term only.

Common issues could include:

  • adjusting to parenthood
  • getting enough sleep
  • taking care of yourself
  • dealing with stress
  • coping with isolation
  • child behaviour
  • blended families
  • parenting styles

Postpartum Adjustment Program

A group program that offers information and support to new mothers who are feeling sad, overwhelmed, anxious or alone. The Postpartum Adjustment Program is offered in conjunction with Toronto Public Health, Alternatives (East York Mental Health Counseling Agency), the Toronto East General Hospital and the South East Toronto Family Health Team. Free childcare and snacks provided.
